I work for a company whose mission it is to get safer skincare into the hands of everyone. When I first heard their mission, I didn't think too hard about it because I "figured" we already had safer skincare in the US. After doing a little more digging into what that phrase really meant, I was shocked to find out how unregulated the beauty industry is. Like almost no regulation.
The last time a federal law was passed to regulate the beauty industry was in 1938!
In those 70 years, we've introduced over 80,000 new ingredients into commerce that have been minimally tested for human safety. Yet many of these ingredients make their way into the products we use on our bodies every day with very minimal oversight by the FDA.
Dedication & Transparency
"At Beautycounter, we’re committed to a health and safety standard that goes well beyond what’s required by U.S. law: We’ve banned the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals through our "Never List”—all while ensuring our products perform and that they’re as indulgent as any other luxe shampoo, lipstick, or oil in the market."

THREE PILLARS OF OUR MISSION
As a mission based company, Beautycounter works hard to get the message out about safer skincare and why it matters to all of us. Our mission is built on three pillars: education, advocacy, and our line of safer, high performing products.
To know better is to do better. We are here to educate people about the ingredients in their products and help them navigate to find safer options.
We are working hard in Washington DC to push for safer, more health protective laws for everyone. This issue not only affects women, but men and children too.
Until there is more transparency within the industry, we offer a solution in our safer products. Until there is widespread change across the board, we know we can offer a safer alternative.
This Time, It's Personal
I joined Beautycounter because I believe in their mission of getting safer products into people's hands. We need to clean up the beauty industry, which is long overdue for a makeover. I want to be part of this movement for change. As a health coach, I am always looking for ways to optimize health. Of course, we know proper nutrition, movement/exercise, and good sleep are huge considerations. But what we put ON our bodies is just as important as what we put IN our bodies and paying attention to the things in our environment can have a big impact on our health. When I realized this, I knew Beautycounter was right for me. Not to mention that I am a beauty product fiend, so finding out that their products were luxurious, high performing AND safer made it a no brainer for me. I am so proud to be part of an amazing company that has given me the opportunity to use my voice to make meaningful change and to use my passion for helping others learn how to use makeup and skincare, and find products that they love.
While we are making big strides in our advocacy effort, we need more voices in this mission. We need voices to inform others and to spread the word that we all deserve better, safer personal care products. I have learned so much since I began working with
Beautycounter and I've met some amazing, inspiring men and women. I'd love to share this message with you. Whether it's showing you our wonderful line of makeup and skincare, introducing you to our Band of Beauty program, or having you join alongside me as a consultant, there are so many ways for you to get involved. I'd love to share how you can make Beautycounter part of your life and what a powerful impact it can have on you and those you love.
